Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Configuration

Using Wireless Printing

From the Apple menu, open System Preferences….
Select Print & Fax.
Click on the + button underneath the printer list at the bottom left.
The Printer Browser dialog box will open.
- Ensure that the Protocol reads Line Printer Daemon - LPD
- For the Address, enter wirelessprinting.ucdavis.edu
- For the Queue, enter wirelessprinting
- Change the Name to IET Wireless Printing
- For the Location, enter UC Davis Computer Rooms
- Click on the Print Using: popup menu and select Select a driver to use…. The window will expand to reveal a list of printer models. Scroll down or search and select HP LaserJet 4350.
Click on the Add button.
The computer will prompt you to select Installable Option. Do not make any changes and click on the Continue button.
A new printer will appear in your printer list.
- NOTE: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) automatically chooses the newly created printer as the default printer for your computer. In most cases this is not the desired result. To change the default, click on the printer you normally use and then click on the Make Default button on the toolbar or go to the Printer menu and select Make Default.
Now your computer is configured to send print jobs to the IET Wireless Printing.
- NOTE: You need to go back to the IET Wireless Printing page at http://wirelessprinting.ucdavis.edu/ and follow the instructions to logon to Wireless Printing before you can print.
